An Open Invitation

Next week, my sister Jennifer will be leaving to go to Morocco for five weeks. Her husband is from Morocco and she, her husband, and her seven-year-old son are going there to visit his family. I am sure they will have a wonderful time, but I do have one question….what about me?! Did she not consider me at all in this crazy plan? As I mentioned in a previous post, Jennifer is my go-to person when it comes to anything and everything mommy-related. Because Ruanita works evenings during the week, I count on Jennifer that much more. She is the only person willing to hang out on a regular basis with my rowdy kids. She is the one and only one who will go with me to the park…to the pool…to the mall…to the lake…to McDonalds….to all places “child-friendly” and germ-infested. She is my reliable, dependable, consistent Friday night date. By Friday afternoon, I am SO tired of being a single parent and Jennifer is the one person I can count on to hang out. She is my pizza party pal….my Yahtzee competitor…my crowd control…my time-out issuing cohort. And next week, she is leaving me for, essentially, the remainder of the summer. What the hell was she thinking leaving for the summer?! Am I bitter? You betcha!

Because I am now going to be dateless every single Friday night, I would like to issue an open invitation to all of my friends. Starting next week, my home is open for visitors any and every Friday night. Please have pity on a poor lonely girl and come visit me. I have beer. I can bake. I have a grill. I have a Wii. Jakeeno’s Pizza delivers to my house. Come on over and visit. Don’t leave me alone with these kids. Help a socially inept girl out! Karma will smile upon your good deeds.

If I only lived closer I would jump at the opportunity.
