TMI--Too Much Information

I've been a negligent blogger this weekend. I apologize. I was off work on Friday and I have been sick. In addition, it is March Madness and that seems to be consuming a great deal of my time. But I am back at work today, where I prefer to do my blogging (ssshhh...don't tell my boss)...and no more basketball games until here I go! Warning...this blog entry is a classic example of TMI--Too Much Information. However, for the sake of being a truthful and honest blogger, I am publishing it in all of its gruesome entirety.

I've come to the conclusion this weekend that womanhood is NOT for the faint of heart. Don't get me wrong...there are days that I truly relish my womanhood and revel in all things feminine. Today is not one of those days. I have a sinus infection. I have felt like utter crap all weekend. In addition to the sinus infection I have developed a hacking cough. In and of itself, a cough is an unpleasant condition to have. Add to that a bladder that sat for seven months with two children growing on top of it, and "unpleasant" takes on a whole new dimension. Practically every time I cough, I pee on myself. So here I sit at work, wearing a giant pad though it is not that time of the month, praying that I do not wreak of urine by the end of the day. I see visions of Depends undergarments in my near future. Lovely, huh?

Friday morning, I woke up feeling as though the cold hands of Death were strangling me. I went to the doctor that day...on my day off work...and was given an antibiotic for my sinus infection. Yesterday, I was feeling a bit better...less sinus pressure. The headache was easing up a bit. The antibiotic seemed to be doing the trick. Aside from the cough that had developed, I was feeling much better. Last night, however, I began noticing an unpleasant sensation in my nether regions. Hmmm...that's weird, I thought. Then it dawned on me exactly what was causing that irksome sensation. What is it that antibiotics always seem to do to in particular? guessed it. The antibiotics had given me a yeast infection. So today, I have to email my doctor and see if I can get a Diflucan pill. I expect that my email will be intercepted by her nurse who, in typical fashion, will respond that I need to come into the clinic for my doctor to confirm that I do, indeed, have a yeast infection. Never mind that I had no fewer than seven yeast infections in the course of my seven-month pregnancy with the twins. I am well-versed in the detestable symptoms of a yeast infection. So...I will have to make a trek to the clinic with children in tow. I can't leave small children in the lobby by themselves...especially MY small children who can completely dismantle a room in 30 seconds flat. Then again, I don't exactly want them in the exam room with me when my doctor confirms a yeast infection. I like to maintain a certain set of boundaries with my children...pelvic exams are NOT including within the confines of those boundaries. The alternative, however, is equally unpleasant. I may have to use the over-the-counter cream remedy that I firmly believe is one of the most heinous of mankind's medical discoveries. I am NOT reveling in my womanhood.

I'm late to this, but feeling empathetic as I sit up reading this in the wee hours of the morning (for me). I have the same problem with antibiotics, but have pretty much eliminated it by taking acidophilus capsules any time I'm on them. Available over the counter in the vitamin section of the pharmacy, and totally worth every penny. I keep them in the fridge for just such an occasion. Hope you're feeling better by now.
