Writers write. Right?
I have previously considered myself a writer, but I am not so sure now. I like when I think of myself as a writer. I like to tell people I am a writer. It has a lot more zing to it than “Lead Service Coordinator” (my title at work). I have recently discovered, however, that writers who do not write quickly lose all ability to write. Writers who do not write are not writers at all.
I intend to do something about that because frankly, I really do not want to be a Lead Service Coordinator. Actually, I do like my job. Let's rephrase that to say that I do not want to only be a Lead Service Coordinator.
Writers write.
It's been a couple of weeks since I have written anything for this blog. Or anything at all, for that matter. To be a writer, once must write every day. Every. Single. Day. Not once a week. Not once a month. Every day.
Writers write.
So...here goes. Because I really want to start imagining myself as a writer again, I am going to commit to writing. Here. In this blog. I am putting it in writing for all to see. I am committing to writing every single day. No matter what. No matter that I am tired. Or bored. Or uninspired. No matter that the kids are driving me nuts. Or 4th grade homework is making me feel stupid. No matter that I think I have nothing to say. I am going to write every day. I am going to make this commitment for one year. 365 days.
I can guarantee you that some days my writing will be nothing more than sentimental drivel. Other days may be sloppy curse-filled rants. Some days my stories will bore the hell out of you. But I am hoping that with 365 days of writing ahead and me, I may at least once or twice write something that is inspired. Something that will touch you. Something that will make you laugh.
Then again, it might all be crap. I guess we'll see.
Consider this day 1.

it doesn't have to be a treatise everyday. Some days can just be a few sentences. Don't beat yourself up if you miss a day. Love you Shannon and can't wait to see what comes out.
Glad you are back, I've been missing your posts. Blogs are nothing if not the perfect place for us all to be writers whenever we want. Good luck with your goal!
Ron Carlson says "Writers stay in the room." That's the difference between a writer and someone who writes. Stay in the room and keep writing when all matter of distraction tries to call you away from it.
