The Wait

Well, the hard part is over. My big interview is done. I think—I hope—I managed not to crash and burn. I was a nervous wreck beforehand. I won't go into the ugly details, but suffice it to say that my stomach was not happy with me. However, once I got in the building, I was perfectly calm. Strangely, I was not nervous at all. I actually enjoyed meeting the two managers I interviewed with and had a good time chatting with them. I am going to take the optimistic approach and say that this was a good thing. It was not a sign of naïve nonchalance. It was not a sign a cocky bravado. I truly felt at ease discussing my skills and abilities. Positivity is my new mantra.

So now I wait. I am not good at waiting. Like two-year-olds the world over, I prefer instant gratification. I would have been okay with being told yesterday, “ suck. We don't want you. Get out of our building.” At least then I would have my instant gratification. Instead, I was told, “You're a really excellent candidate for the position and we will be in touch soon.” So now...I wait.

Change is scary stuff, folks. But I am excited about the prospect. It is time for a shake-up. Time for a huge upheaval. Hopefully, this position—if I get it—will provide me with the earth-shaking change I am craving.

Stay tuned.
