Bedtime Update

Well, we did it. We stuck to our guns. We refused to let a single child climb into our bed last night. Lucas, being the wise elder of our children, opted to stay in his own bed the entire night. Apparently, he is smart enough to realize that his mattress is way more comfortable than the shabby carpet in my bedroom. I admit to feeling a twinge of maternal pride to know that he is capable of coming to such a logical, intelligent conclusion. The other two? Ummm....not quite as bright. Nicholas, being the first one to come to our room at 3am, was happy to get tucked warmly into the oversized chair with the giant ottoman in our room. It is as comfortable as a bed, after all. Sophie, being the last child to come to our room, was the only real loser in our master plan. She was the only one forced to sleep on the floor in a sleeping bag. Needless to say, she was far from overjoyed about it at 3:30 this morning. As a matter of fact, she quite clearly vocalized her displeasure. However, when given the option of a sleeping bag in our room or marching back downstairs to her own bedroom, she opted for the sleeping bag. And guess what? She fell asleep there. Lucas slept in his own bed. Nicholas slept in a chair. Sophie slept on the floor. The only people in my bed were Ruanita and I. I actually woke to my alarm this morning instead of the excruciating sensation of an elbow being jabbed into the base of my skull.

I could get used to this....

Woo hoo! Congratulations. Keep up the good work. But if you want to make real progress, I suggest you dump the cozy chair option too. ;)
